Is there anything you can do if you buy a used car from a dealership and it ends up being a piece of crap?
- Contact the District Attorney make NOISE. contact the local paper s, make a protest sign and protest outside their business during your off time, telling people what a rip - off they are. Also contact the BBB Better Business Bureau, and the State to file an action on them. Make a 1000 Copies of what happened to you, and have them distributed to EVERY home, business within a 5 mile radius. Take the fight to THEM!
- Basically. NO. It sounds like you haven't had a lot of experience buying vehicles. Never pay the price that a book like kelly or nada says. They are only pricing "suggestions". As far as the POS you bought, you should have had it checked out prior to buying. Used vehicles are sold as - is. To the person who has said "3 day return and "lemon law". There is no 3 day return law and the lemon law does not apply to USED vehicles
- It depends on how long you have had the truck. If your state has a 3 day law. and you haven't had it more than 72 hours, you can take it back. If your state has a "lemon law", you can take it back within 30 - 90days depending on the state. Otherwise you can just go in there and make a scene in the middle of a big sale or something. They might fix your issues just to get rid of you. Filing a BBB complaint might help too. Good luck, sorry to hear about another person getting shafted
- that is soo true. watch for those dealerships they are smart and sneakyy. take a mechanic with you to test the car before you buy anything from a dealer and the mechanic will do a forecasting on your car that upcoming expenses and wut needs tot be done and stuff like that
- what state are you from. Search the internet on used car lemon law. Generally if your car has less than 100, 000miles and is less than 10 year old its covered for 30 days or 1000 miles. If you let the seller dealer only know of the problem b4 the 30 days / 1, 000 miles they have to fix it. Have another garage take a look at it and have them write down everything thats was wrong and also they need to include the milage and date when they do this so if it fits in the lemon law guideline you have proof
- You got some good ideas from others. I will add 3 things. If you financed it thru the dealership and haven't made the first payment, the dealership still owns the truck! Tell them you will not make the 1st payment until they fix it! If you HAVE made the 1st payment, have lemon stickers made up and cover the entire vehicle in them with a sign on each side and the rear reading " X dealership sold me this lemon and will not fix it!" Either park it across from the dealership or circle the dealership every day. Thirdly, my former neighbor started a web site documenting all the atrocities he encountered with a dealership. It came up everytime someone did a search for the dealer. They eventually offered him an exchange of his lemon! Good luck
- Not unless it came with a written warrenty from the dealer. It is called, "let the buyer beware. "
- There is not 3 day cooling off period in any state! Ca has something if you had signed up for it before the sale You should have had it checked by a mechanic before buying it! Ask the dealer for help and show your dissatisfaction in a polite professional way, he may help you. He does not have to unless there was a warranty on the car. More than likely you bought the car "as is" so it is your problems. Good luck and sorry
