How do I sell a used car for parts?

The car is in another state, at a repair chop about 1000 miles away. The engine is blown. Its a seven year old car, although the tires are new. What would be the best move? I'm going down there on some other family business. Would it be best to take it apart and sell the parts? How do I figure what I should get for the parts?

You would be wisest to turn your back on this car right now, after of course paying the repair shop's bill. Let THEM sell it because they are on the spot, or let them have the car instead of paying them in cash for the bill. Your main prob is that you are too far away from the car to be able to spend time dismantling it. No, forget the car. There are plenty more cars out there
depending on how long it been at the shop and what they might charge you to have kelpt it there it might just be best to let them have it unless you got a big turck and can tow it to and from you do not have many choices you might be able to sell it for junk at a junk yard and really it might take yrs to get rid of parts depending on the make and model and year
Wow tuff situation, 1st do you have a clear le? most states require this, next point is yes you would usually make more money parting out a car however the model, year and style do affect this as a 1978 granada will not bring you squate parting out example only but a 1970 mach 1 will. this devise we are using will give you an idea on prices for the parts search your car model in wrecking yards search and price say a replacement right door should do the trick

You can take it to a junk yard and sell the car to them. They just leave it there and when anyone needs parts they just take them and pay. Or, you can take it apart yourself and sell it on ebay / craigslist
