Would you buy an used car? How many milws do you consider safe? Year and make you prefer?Does engine
- I sell RV's and as far the basics its not much different from a car. The make and model, and mechanics of it, makes a difference. While you can purchase a used vehicle for less than a new, its important to remember that the mark - up on used is still substantially different, meaning that you can still lose 10 to 30% when you drive it off the lot. Mileage means the world, think of when you trade something in, the more miles, the less the value. I would stick with something you can still get an extended warranty on. I know alot of people think they are worthless, but they can save you lots if the used vehicle has mechanical issues you were unaware of. We bought my daughter a used 2002 sunfire in 2004 with 10, 000 miles on it. All in all it has been a good car, but we did have a power window motor go bad and the sunroof motor, cost of repairs were about 1300. 00 for both, the extended warranty covered all but 150. 00 of it
- I will probably always buy used cars, just because you can save so much by getting one a year old. If its an American car, Under 80, 000 miles to be safe. Japanese or German cars, under 130, 000 is ok as long as it was maintained. I would stay away from British cars if you do not have alot to spend on maintenance. I prefer German or Japanese cars that are less than 10 years old depends on how much you wanna spend. I have had 2 Audis, and I now have an Infiniti. Overall, the Japanese car has been much more trouble free than the German cars, but not as "unique, " I like uniqueness. Engine size and torque make a big difference. It depends on how much you want to sacrifice speed for fuel economy, and if you have a manual or auto transmission. Manuals you can get a bit smaller engine and rev it more. Automatics you need more power since the tranny saps some. For a mid size car, between a 2. 8 - 3. 2 litre engine is good, with 160 - 250 horsepower, depending on the weight of the car. German cars and of course SUVs are always heavier than anything else
- if you know the car and the owner, then make your decision - - otherwise you're overpaying for someone else's grief. car salepeople are, by and large, a bunch of "snake oil salesmen"
- Never buy a used car. There is a reason it is for sale. It's trouble
- I am in the business here in Livonia Thomcat, Engine size does matter and so does liter size you have to be careful of some of those motors! What are you looking at maybe I can help you with Engines?
- We just bought a 2002 Buick Lesabre Limited with 150, 000 miles on it. It was hard to tell this car from a brand new one. It had been well maintained. The maintenance is more important than the miles. I am looking forward to another 150, 000
- I have never bought a new car, and mostly had good luck I had one Jeep that had transmission problems. In my limited experience, the Japanese cars seem to last longest, although I did have excellent results with an Olds although I heard recently they are stopping production on Olds. I usually buy them with 50, 000 and sell them around 150, 000. My current Toyota just went over 100, 000, and is running like a top
- Always. Let someone take the 30% depreciation when they drive it off the lot. And look for a CPO on a lease return. Each CPO varies, but they can be worth it in the long run on a quality car. For $20k you can buy someone's $40k car of a couple of years ago
